Welcome to the Fine Arts at Dallas Christian! In my opinion, we have the most talented students at Dallas Christian and I get to watch them grow and develop each day! It is a privilege and an honor to work with our amazing students as they push themselves to pursue excellence – sometimes outside of their comfort zones – and succeed! Whether singing a vocal solo for the first time, participating in the spring musical on the stage, creating something bold and new on a canvas or participating in an acting competition, our students demonstrate a level of undaunted courage as they contribute to the arts at DC.

Our Fine Arts Department exists to enrich and engage our students as they grow, develop and explore their God-given talents in the arts. It is our goal to encourage and instruct our students in pursuing their very best in all preparatory practices, competitions and performances throughout the year. With class offerings in Art, Jazz Band, Choir, Drama, Drumline, Piano and Digital Music, there are many opportunities for our students to gain experience and grow in their preferred art.

Our fine arts students and ensembles at the high school level participate in the TAPPS State Fine Arts Competitions in Art, Drumline, Instrumental Music, One Act Play and Vocal Music. Numerous TAPPS State Awards have been earned in all categories by many of our students in which we participate. The spring contest and performance season is usually very busy. In addition to our competition participation, our Jazz Band participates and performs in various jazz festivals within the state as well as traveling to perform at Walt Disney World in Florida. Our theater department always produces and performs a musical which usually involves many students including, but not limited to, those enrolled in fine arts classes. It is a highlight of the semester!

Parents are able to get involved by becoming part of The Patrons of Fine Arts. It is a campus-wide organization comprised of parents interested in supporting the arts financially and through volunteer opportunities such as fundraising, parent support for Art, Jazz Band, Choir and Theater departments. Each fall, there is a membership drive for the academic year and these funds greatly assist with various needs that exist each year. We could not function as well as we do without this fantastic organization.

The Fine Arts Faculty at Dallas Christian is a group of extremely talented adults who are excellent teachers! I am honored to work alongside of them. We love our students, are committed to their growth and development in their craft and most importantly, we strive to nurture their spiritual development.

After ten years of teaching at Dallas Christian, I can say it has been a great place for both of my sons to attend and from which to graduate. My youngest son will graduate in May 2017. Every day, students face new challenges in Upper School. If you are seeking a place where the teachers are striving in their walk with Christ while encouraging the students to do the same, you have come to the right place.

Sincerely,
Kelle Collins
